Wall hook generator: screw, adhesive or over-door hooks
Choose how the hook mounts — countersunk screws, a 3M Command strip, or over a door of your thickness — then set its depth, tip and width. The screw holes sit above the hook so a screwdriver reaches them; the adhesive plate is sized to 3M's own strip dimensions with the pull tab left free; the door strap fits the door with 0.8 mm to spare. One hook, two stacked, or a row of up to five.
- The default screw-mounted hook exports as one exact solid of 16 faces: 8 planes, 6 true cylinders (the screw holes and the hook's rounded inside and tip) and 2 cones (the countersinks).
STEP AP214 in millimetres, exact B-rep — it opens directly in SolidWorks, Fusion, FreeCAD, Onshape or Inventor, and goes straight into a CNC quote form. STL for the slicer is one click too.

Every parameter is a link parameter; the link below opens the example part. ChatGPT, Claude or any assistant can write one like it from the parameter list (names, units, ranges) at: parameter list (JSON)
Press “AI edit” in the generator and say what to change — a keyway, holes, a different shape. The AI edits the part's model.py and it rebuilds in your browser, with undo. A few edits a day are free without signing in; to keep the result or go further, copy it into your models and continue with the AI agent.
For bigger changes, several rounds, or a part you want to keep: copy it into your models (free account). The Forgent3D AI agent reads the model.py, edits it, rebuilds it and checks the result itself.
1.Open the generator — the model builds right in your browser, nothing to install.
2.Tune dimensions and options in the parameter panel; the geometry rebuilds live in 3D.
3.Export STL / STEP for printing — or ask the AI agent for features beyond the sliders.
FAQ
Which way do I print it?
On its side, so the layers run around the J. In CNC Kitchen's tests the same hooks printed standing broke at half the load or less, splitting between layers. For heavy loads use PETG or ASA and more walls; printed over-door hooks in PLA are reported splitting at the top corner.
How much does the adhesive version hold?
As much as the strip: 3M rates Command Large strips at 5 lb and Medium at 3 lb, not for wet rooms. Press the plate on firmly, wait an hour before hanging anything, and remove the strip by stretching it straight down along the wall, never by pulling it toward you. Makers report the tape lets go before the plastic does.
The screw split the hook. What now?
Overtightened or oversized screws splitting the plate is the most common complaint about printed wall hooks. The holes here are ISO 273 clearance holes with countersinks for standard wood-screw heads and 3 mm of plastic below; stop when the head sits flush. Command is a 3M trademark; the adhesive version is made to fit its strips.
Can I 3D print a towel hook that sticks on without drilling?
Yes: https://www.forgent3d.com/en/generators/wall-hook-generator?MOUNT=Adhesive%20strip%2019&STYLE=Double&DEPTH=25 — two stacked hooks on a back plate sized for a large 3M Command strip (19 × 69 mm), with the pull tab left free below. 3M rates the large strip at 5 lb and says it is not for wet rooms, so hang the towel outside the shower.
I need a hook that hangs over a 40 mm door.
https://www.forgent3d.com/en/generators/wall-hook-generator?MOUNT=Over%20a%2040%20mm%20door&STYLE=Double — a 3 mm strap goes over the door top with 0.8 mm of clearance, and two hooks hang on the inside. Check the gap above your door first: a strap that is too thick stops the door closing, the most common complaint about printed over-door hooks.
Can I sell prints made with these generators?
Yes. Models you generate and the STL / STEP files you export are yours: print them, sell the prints, or use them in a product. No attribution to Forgent3D is required.
